Meeting the Challenge! The number of senior citizens is expected to almost double and will represent more than 20 percent of the U.S. population by the year 2050. This unprecedented growth in the elderly population presents our society with the unparalleled challenge of meeting the increased health care needs of our elderly. To meet this 21st Century challenge, discoveries in the treatments and interventions related to the aging process need to be translated from the bench to the bedside to provide state of the art health care to our citizens; promoting good health later in life.

Empower faculty to be creative and engage in innovative inter-disciplinary research.
Train future generations of geriatricians and investigators to become leaders in the areas of research, education, and clinical care.
